“84 Buddha Idol Donation Festival”
India’s ancient culture shines with the values of compassion, equality, and wisdom. Among the महान personalities who gave global recognition to this culture, the contributions of Gautama Buddha, Emperor Ashoka, and Dr. B. R. Ambedkar are truly inspiring.
Buddha showed humanity the path of compassion, equality, and wisdom. Emperor Ashoka spread this Dhamma across India and beyond. Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, in modern India, gave a new direction to Buddha’s principles of equality.
History tells us that Emperor Ashoka built thousands of stupas, viharas, and symbols of Dhamma across the country to spread these teachings. Inspired by Buddha, he spread the message of compassion and humanity throughout his empire. Even after thousands of years, his legacy continues to be celebrated not only in India but across the world.
Inspired by this, we initiated a unique and socially meaningful effort — the 84 Buddha Idol Donation Festival. This initiative is not just a religious or cultural program, but a living example of the values of charity, equality, and humanity taught in Buddha’s Dhamma.
People from many countries come to India to donate Buddha idols. However, often they are unable to pay customs duties or other expenses after bringing these idols to India. Understanding this issue, we started an innovative social experiment.
Under this initiative, with the aim of spreading Buddha’s teachings in rural and underserved areas, 100 Buddha idols were donated. The most special aspect of this project is that it was built entirely through self-effort and self-funding.
Children living in slum areas gathered every night. They contributed small amounts from their own pockets. Without taking even a single rupee from any political figure or wealthy donor, they collected cement, sand, and materials themselves and created Buddha idols.
This initiative was not just about making idols; it was a symbol of self-respect, unity, and the living practice of Buddha’s compassionate teachings. The idols created through the hard work of these children have now been donated across many parts of Maharashtra, spreading messages of compassion, peace, and equality.
A small poem expressing this spirit:
Buddha lit the lamp of compassion in the world,
Showing the path of equality in human life.
Ashoka carried that Dhamma far and wide,
Spreading humanity across the world.
When hands from humble homes shaped these idols,
Drops of sweat gave form to their dreams.
This is not just a donation of stone,
But a donation of thoughts.
Through Buddha’s Dhamma,
The future of society shines bright.
Today, the 84 Buddha Idol Donation Festival is no longer just a project; it has become an inspiring example of the determination of youth, faith in Buddha’s teachings, and a new generation built on the values of equality.
This initiative proves that great change does not require great wealth—
What is truly needed is determination, unity, and a sincere desire to serve society.
